Violet Evergarden the Movie's Japanese release date has been set for Jan. 10, 2020!
The news came with a new teaser visual and video, which also announced the release of a side story. Titled Violet Evergarden Gaiden: Eien to Jidō Shuki Ningyō, it will receive a limited cinema run before the main movie’s release, screening for two weeks only from Sept. 6, 2019.
Inspired by the series of light novels written by Akatsuki Kana and illustrated by Takase Akiko, Violet Evergarden was first adapted into a TV anime in 2018 and streamed worldwide via Netflix. The movie is set several years after the war, just as the world is returning to peace. Violet nevertheless continues to dwell on her memories, when a mysterious letter arrives.
Side story Violet Evergarden Gaiden: Eien to Jido Shuki Ningyo will screen for two weeks only from Sept. 6 - 19. Violet Evergarden the Movieopens in Japan on Jan. 10, 2020.
